REDUCING FUEL CONSUMPTION - REDUCING EMISSIONS

Engine combustion performance is paramount

Our Engine Performance System will typically produce: 4 -7 % Fuel savings and over 15% reduction of NOx emissions.

PRO 8 Twelve provides fuel and emission reduction technology for the shipping industry. We use independent lab, and field test verified technology combined with our marine engineering expertise to reduce fuel consumption while reducing vessel emissions. PRO 8 Twelve collaborates with their clients to develop these Vessel Specific Performance Optimization Systems. These systems ensure maximum efficiency for our clients in authentically reducing both, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
The following achievements are possible with our EPS:

Lower the SFOC (specific fuel oil consumption)

Reducing particulate emissions, (smoke)

Increasing power output by improving efficiency of the engine’s combustion

Actual SFOC readout, comparing with current SFOC and engine maker stated best SFOC.

Reducing exhaust gas temperature and acidification of lubricating oil

Eliminate hot end vanadium corrosion on exhaust valve seats

Doses the optimum amount of EFR Catalyst (Where Less is More)

Reduces the combustion duration, directly reducing thermal NOx formation

Tim has over 30 years professional experience on and with ships, holding positions covering all ranks including chief engineer and engineering manager. He has an excellent understanding of all engineering aspects of the marine industry.
He is an ideas, can do guy with strong analytical skills, and comes alive developing solutions when things are going wrong in his expertise environment.

Development of new concepts and solutions is where he functions best. Tim is excellent at forming accurate diagnosis and finding strategic solutions amongst the chaos. He exhibits good mentor and teacher skills, and enjoys building expertise amongst his pupils and department colleagues. He see’s the strengths in people and has the ability to teach and suggest options without embarrassing a collaborator. Tim functions best when allotted time to explore options with focused thinking time (with a very strong black coffee) You will find him resourceful, inquisitive and easy to like.

Industry Experts

At Pro 8 Twelve we know that engine performance is paramount and set out to develop a system that would eliminate all the variables when considering if there is an improvement in engine combustion performance.

Improved Combustion

Our EPS will provide you additional tools to monitor and improve combustion performance which directly impacts your vessel C02 burden.

Measurable Results

We have developed an Engine Performance System (EPS) that measures Specific Fuel Oil Consumption. This system is integral with our EFR Catalyst dosing system.

Optimized Dosing

Our EFR Catalyst is integrated with our Engine Performance System (EPS), where we monitor and adjust the dosing rate to optimum levels.

Typical Effects

  • Fuel Consumption Reduction 4 – 9.6%:

The EFR Catalyst promotes efficient combustion through aiding the hydrocarbon bond that is broken down during the combustion cycle with organometallic chemistry.

  • Particulate Emissions Reduction > 60%:

Particulate emissions are unburned hydrocarbons. Visible smoke, particulates, THC, and CO are all unburned fuel.  With this EFR Catalyst more efficient combustion causes a visible reduction in exhaust emissions.

  • Vanadium Corrosion Elimination:

Engine hot end corrosion on exhaust valve seats are eliminated with use of EFR catalyst.  The vanadium becomes orthovanadate Mg3(VO4)2 during combustion with EFR Catalyst present and passes through the exhaust valves and turbo chargers, no longer impinging upon the surface of the valve seats.

  • Engine Wear & Oil Contamination:

Engine wear will be reduced in cylinder liners, piston rings and ring grove landings etc., as a direct result of the decrease in carbon and particulate matter, this leads to fewer contaminates entering the crankcase, contaminating the lube oil (for Trunk Piston Engines), through blow by. We have seen soot contamination in lubricating oil reduce over 35% with the correct use of the EFR Catalyst. Iron (Fe) wear rate trends also decrease directly as soot reduction in lubricating oil.

  • Exhaust Temperature Reduction 10 - 15º C:

The combustion secondary burn is accelerated and completed earlier in the cycle, thus leading to a reduction in exhaust gas temperature.

  • NOx Emissions Reduction > 15%:

During the combustion process the hydrogen carbon molecular bond is more efficiently broken for complete combustion to take place, this reduces the combustion duration directly reducing the time frame for thermal NOx to be generated.
